We <3 aussies, no doubt about it. This month the Midnight Juggernauts released their debut album Dystopia. Heavy synth and a vocoder dominate the sound...think Cars by Gary Numan (ha)...a very 80s sound, but futuristic? A US/national release date hasn't been set yet for the album, but make sure Dystopia is ranked high on your must get list.
Bang Gang records (Vanshe Tech, KIM, Muscles) artist Bag Raiders also released an EP this month. The 3-song EP keeps us in anticipation of a full release for sure. And in case you are a podcast junkie like me, the Bang Gang podcasts should be the most heavily played.
Bag Raiders - Nil by Mouth Reprise
Bag Raiders - Fun Punch
CUT COPY also talks of a new album this year, which has a release date for AUS in October of this year. The album will feature 16 tracks, including a re-recording of the single Hearts on Fire.

Felix da Housecat: Pretty Girls Don't Dance
Felix da Housecat releases his third full length album in October entitled Virgo Blaktro & the Movie Disco. Out on Wall of Sound/PIAS, the album has a heavy feel of 80s soul with the typical Housecat touch. The Like Something 4 Porno EP features two songs from the upcoming album, with remixes from Teenage Bad Girls (!!!) and Armand Van Helden. Check out the video for Like Something 4 Porno (I mean, just the title should be enough to get excited about). There is also a tour this fall, but unless you live in a major city you'll probably miss this show...come on Felix, the states love you too.

Bpitch Control's powerhouse duo, Modeselektor, are releasing their second album on September 10 titled Happy Birthday! Too bad it is being released after my 21st birthday (which, as a reminder, is August 29). Expect this to be another eclectic album covering electro, hip hop, glitch, and dubstep.

Cops Bust Baby Shower
True Story
Cop: Alright, who rented the truck? Everyone get out of here, just drive slow and go home.
[helicopter flies overhead, spotlight passes through forest]
Cop: This is the sweetest party I've ever seen. I can't believe you pulled this off. I guess you're not arrested!
Zach: Your badge is swirling.
Cop: Lemme give you a ride to town.
Zach: K.
Unfortunately the baby shower was busted just as it was getting good. A not too mean police man showed up, music came to a halt, and we left the truck bed dance floor in a foggy black-lit haze, stunned as we fumbled to find our way to a car without getting shot by the helicopter. It was like getting caught in the act just as you and your mate are about to go ecstatic, only there was a collective anti-climax to fill a U-Haul.
It seemed like people were enjoying the music, and we're not sure yet when the next party'll be (soon, hopefully) so I'm posting the mix in its unentirety, it was just too big to post the whole thing. But I spent jus a lil too much time on it to let it go to waste.
Anyway, enjoy. Feel free to have a private mini-party, the mp3 is decent sound quality, just don't listen to it on laptop speakers. Ok, here's the link:
The Link
I'm going to post a tracklist for it sometime and a torrent for people who can't wait long enough to download it the old fashioned way.
